S1E1- Your Logo Ain’t That Important!
Your Logo Ain’t That Important
Brand Ya Flava Podcast Season 1: Episode 1
De Back Story
This is something I see over and over again from Facebook groups after Facebook groups and it literally “crawls my blood” every time I see it. There’s so much more to focus on in your brand than this regularly post that pops up literally every day… yes, it’s the dreaded logo post.
This post comes up Every. Single. Daggone. Everlasting. Day. I guarantee you. And usually, it starts out with the best introduction: “Help me choose my logo, A or B?” Yep, that’s it. Nothing else.
I’ll explain from a designer’s perspective why it’s a BIG issue for your brand and how you can really maximize your logo to have the effect you seek for your brand.
De Nitty Gritty of the Episode
Apparently, many of us starting out in our business have the ability because of social media to reach out to others for inspiration and guidance to make our business successful.
[1:19] However, this also means many of us (because we haven’t been taught otherwise –which is okay) go into our Facebook groups to ask the dreaded question that is asked almost daily:
[1:50] “Which one; Logo A or Logo B?” (Or C D F G… could be the entire alphabet if they had the chance to)” And with nothing else! There’s no other information. Nothing else!
This can bring harm to your brand because of the following ways:
- When you’re asking people in a Facebook group about your logo and they have nothing to do with your target audience, they can give you misinformation or lead your logo astray from the meaning. [ 3:04]
- You offer no other information about who you are, what you do or what’s your message behind the brand. [4:14]
- Your About Page on your website isn’t clearly defined about what you do, why you do it and how it will benefit your audience [5:22]
- We’re not learning about your brand messaging which makes it confusing to research about you [6:30]
Your logo is actually a written or graphic manifestation or code of your brand’s message. Your logo is actually a written or graphic manifestation or code of your brand’s message. Share on X
Your logo is not necessarily a literal manifestation of your brand’s message, but it does reflect the customs, values, and culture of your brand. It does have its importance in terms of identifying your brand; however, it is not as important as it used to be – people will mainly remember you for your brand’s experience than they would remember your logo.
